Quilters with Heart

The Friday afternoon quilters met today. Debbie quilted the cute little quilt she got for $5 at a yard sale. The rest of us worked on finishing up two tops - still trying to finish up the bin of florals. I think we have made at least 10 quilts from that bin and those florals just won't go away.
Today's quilters were Jeanne, Joyce, Debbie, Amy and, special quest star, Roe. Roe is a quilting friend from many years back at a local quilt shop. It was such a joy to see her today. We hope she continues to join us on Fridays.

Quilters With Heart

What a joy today to spend the afternoon with my good friends. We met at Joyce's house again because Joe will be home till after Easter recovering from his surgery.

Playing with fabric today were Jeanne, Debbie, Amy, Joyce and me. We were so happy that Lynnette stopped by for a quick visit donning her beautiful blue cast. We were all thinking about Susan visiting the PNW and Elaine recovering from surgery.

We are still working to empty the bin of florals. We ironed and cut fabrics for a new project which Debbie worked on. Jeanne worked on a boatload of pet beds. And Amy worked on the Yellow Alternating Four Patch.

Quilters With Heart

Yesterday was another lovely day of sewing with friends. Here this week were Joyce, Jeanne, Debbie and Amy. We worked on finishing up several projects that have been sitting in "the bin" for quite a while.

I made a backing for the puzzle quilt.
Amy finished piecing one of the double four patches. Debbie worked on another one which still needs a second border. Of course, now that it is photographed, I see two blocks that twisted. Oh well.
I finished piecing the Block Wall and made it's backing. It still needs a border.
Jeanne made and stuffed lots of dog and cat beds. And Joyce was the organizer and overseer extraordinaire.

Quilters With Heart

We had a great day today of fellowship, show and tell, chocolate, oh yeah, and sewing.

First for the show and tell. Susan finished her BOM star quilt. OMGoodness, this quilt is absolutely gorgeous. No picture could do it justice. Bravo, Susan!

With Olga, the long arm, on sick leave, we all focused on binding.
Debbie, Susan and Jeanne were binding stitchers
Joyce was a binding maker
Do you notice how my being the photographer keeps me out of the pictures? hehe

Most of us took home a quilt to finish up the stitching at home but this Quilt of Valor is finished.

For various reasons, I won't be able to stitch with the group for several weeks. Have fun at Joyce's house, ladies.

Need some time with granddaughter

Heading to Florida in the morning to spend a week holding my dgd. Can't get there soon enough. :)
The Friday Quilters with Heart worked again at increasing their proficiency on Olga the Millennium. They quilted the Homespun Red/White/Blue Star quilt. They used the R/W/B variegated thread and it turned out beautifully. Forgot to take a picture. I'll share one once it is bound.

Quilters With Heart

Another lovely Friday of friendship. Susan, Debbie and Joyce worked on quilting one of the Crumb quilts. Great job ladies.

Jeanne, Amy and I worked on the Block Wall (quiltintia.com). Not a finish yet but close.
The best part of the day was lunch - Susan treated us to her homemade Chicken and Noodles. OMGoodness. Talk about total deliciousness. It was a cross between a soup and a chicken pot pie. We were all swooning. (Amber, the cat, desperately wanted some but no one would share.) Thank you, Susan, for sharing all of your hard work with us. And please thank Kim also.

Quilters With Heart

I canceled sewing on Friday this week because of the leaking ceilings. But despite an ice covered driveway, the gals that are learning to play on Olga the Millenium, came over to play in the basement. Debbie had her first lesson and did spectacularly - she is a natural. Susan finished up the quilting after Debbie left and is definitely ready to fly solo on her own quilts whenever she wants. I'm proud of the ladies. And I think they are having fun.
This week we did the quilting on the stunning Fabric Fling (pattern by Ginny Murphy) top. It's a real beauty.

Joyce came over for a little visit after her painters went home. It is always wonderful to get a Joyce visit and hug. :) We enjoyed her delicious "Kale Crap" soup, a name given by her dh because Joyce throws in whatever crap she has gotten from the cooperative garden that week. Whatever the crap was, Joyce sure turned it into delicious soup.

Quilters With Heart

Friday - 1/28/11
CANCELED! Why? Because we got lots more of this on Thursday (17 inches actually):

Which has caused lots more of this:
And caused lots more of this (all over the kitchen and dining room table which is where we work):

Don't think, though, that I don't still love the snow. I do!!! I just don't love roofers who don't do thorough and honest work.

Quilters With Heart

Another "snow day" hit us on a Friday making it difficult for most to participate in our Friday sewing. Susan was the one and only brave soul to take on the challenge of the roads and my driveway.

The day before Joyce and I had given her a refresher course about the use of my Millenium and we had mounted and quilted the pastel Boxed Squares quilt.
Susan and Joyce

So on Friday, Susan tackled the lavender floral quilt all by herself. She did a wonderful job - I was very proud of her.

We had a great time but let's hope Mother Nature cooperates this coming week so more of us can gather.

Quilters With Heart

The Friday afternoon charity quilters were finally able to meet again. It was wonderful to hear about everyone's holidays and vacations. And Joyce and I got our daily exercise pushing Jeanne's car out of the snow bank. Wish I had a picture of that. :)
 Debbie cutting and Jeanne ironing.
Susan and Joyce giving their sewing machines a good workout.

This is the second week working on this project. The fabric is very old fabric I had probably gotten at our long gone Joanns/House of Fabrics before that. The white background is an Ikea cotton sheet that I had heard was a cheap nice alternative to Kona Cotton. Hmm, definitely not Kona Cotton but fine for this use. I had cut out the charms without counting and we sewed without counting. We were thrilled to discover that we now have enough rows for two quilts around 50x70 each.
